Family Of Billy Baker Pay Tribute

The 64-year-old was found dead at a house in the town last week. A 40-year-old man has been charged with his murder.

The sisters of a suspected murder victim from Grimsby have thanked the local community for their support and kind messages following his death.

It’s after Billy Baker was found dead at an address in Weelsby Street shortly before 1pm last Wednesday.

Today 40 year old Stephen Beaumont is due at Hull Crown Court charged with his murder.

Two women and a man also arrested on suspicion of murder have been bailed pending further enquiries.

The two sisters of Billy Baker, who did not wish to be named, said:

“On behalf of the family of Bill, who was so tragically taken from us, I would like to thank you all for the kind messages and thoughts you have conveyed about him.

“It has brought a big comfort to us all.

“We would also like to thank two people in particular, they know who they are, for their ongoing support they have given us.

“We are a close, private family and need to have time to grieve and wait until we can lay our beloved Bill to rest.

“Thank you all.”

Detective Chief Inspector Wendy North appealed to anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police to come forward. She said:

“We still need help from the local community. I would urge anyone with information, no matter how insignificant they believe it to be, to call 101, quoting log number 215 of January 6 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.”
