Families in Hull say they need all the support they can get through the six weeks holidays.

It's as the cost of living crisis is making it hard for parents to provide entertainment and food.

The Healthy holidays programme provides young people with sports, activities and entertainment.

Ross Sorokin brought his two children down to one of the play days at Queen's Gardens, he said:

"Normally we'd go to the shop and get what we want, now it's a bit different. We have to manage especially when feeding the kids. Events like this gives us support, the kids and the parents are having fun.

Rachel Smith is from the Hull and East Riding Mumbler - she's been talking to families down at the Queen's Gardens play day event, she said:

"People want to go out but there's a lot of things people can't afford to do. We're really lucky in Hull because there are a load of free events this summer. I've got two children and it's cost me a lot of money for days out and now we're onto the list of free ones."
