Extra patrols for Hull's Orchard Park due to anti social behaviour
It follows concerns from locals
Police in Hull are promising extra patrols in the Orchard Park area after anti social behaviour which local people say has left them feeling scared.
Officers recently dispersed a group committing offences at a vigil held for two men who died in a motorcycle crash on Hall Road.
There's also been instances of criminal damage.
Anti social behaviour will not be tolerated
We spoke to Assistant chief constable Darren Wildbore about the increase in patrols there.
He said: "We are reviewing our current policing plans and stepping up activity in the area including having more patrols, further engagement with the public."
"When we do get crime or anti social behaviour that is absolutely not to be tolerated and we'll deal with that very very robustly."
We will make arrests where necessary
"We will always have our dedicated neighbourhood police officers who will continue to speak and listen to residents and deal with any matters that they come across including making arrests where necessary."
"We will have a youth management approach to it, however there's various levels to that from those first time offenders, which are very low level."
"But those who continue to commit crime or anti social behaviour they'll be dealt with very robustly."
We want to get more young people involved in sport
One area they're looking at is to try and get more young people in the area involved in sport.
Darren Wildbore says:
"These include Hull Boxing club, Tigers Trust and the Restart programme from Hull FC,"
"In terms of those they are a fantastic area of education to prevent crime."
