Although more of us are in this situation, less than one in ten of us take action to make plans if this was to happen in the future. This means that across the country more than two million people are out of work.

The research reveals that depression and stress is the most common reason for long-term illness of workers in East Yorkshire.

In East Yorkshire 58% of us would be much worse off financially if we couldn’t work, this is the highest in the UK.

And well over 60% of us don't think that we could maintain our current lifestyle on state benefits if we couldn't work, and less than 10% of residents in East Yorkshire have income protection if anything like this was to happen; lower than the national average.
