East Riding residents urged to check Household Support Fund eligibility
People who are struggling could get a one-off payment of £400
Householders in the East Riding who are struggling to make ends meet due to the rise in the cost of living could be eligible for a one-off payment of £400.
The Household Support Fund, which is administered by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, is a scheme that offers grant support to those most in need due to the rise in energy bills as well as food.
Householders must be resident in the East Riding, can be single or in a couple, with or without children, or where a member has a long-term health condition
Speaking about the Household Support Fund, Cllr John Holtby, the council’s portfolio holder for corporate service, revenues and benefits, said: “The council recognises the pressures many households are facing due to the rise in living costs, and are delighted to be able to provide support to households across the East Riding that are most in need. The grants will help residents with food, energy bills and other essentials.”
“Over £400,000 has already been paid to eligible households. We are urging all residents with an income of below £26,000 for single households and £31,000 for couples, or single with children, to check their eligibility and apply online before 31 January”
Residents can check eligibility and apply on East Riding of Yorkshire Council's website.
The council also has a benefit eligibility checker which can be used by households to check for financial support that they may be entitled to.
