East Riding Councillor expelled following Jo Cox comments
Dominic Peacock made inappropriate comments about the fund set up in memory of the murdered Yorkshire MP.
An East Riding Councillor has been expelled following inappropriate comments oon social media.
A meeting was held this afternoon to discuss the future of Councillor Dominic Peacock.
The outcome ruled that he be expelled from the Conservative Group on East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
He was suspended yesterday after posting offensive comments on social media about the fund in memory of murdered Yorkshire MP Jo Cox.
He's since apologised for the comments.
A statement from East Riding of Yorkshire Council leader, Stephen Parnaby, said:
"Further to yesterday’s communication, at today’s meeting of the full Conservative Group on the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, it was agreed to expel Cllr Dominic Peacock with immediate effect."
