The water play area at Hull’s East Park has reopened.

The attraction, in East Park off Holderness Road, welcomed visitors, with a Hull City Council spokesperson said they were sorry that the reopening of the water play area had been delayed.

It comes as the water play area was set to open yesterday but its reopening had to be pushed back. A council spokesperson said on Tuesday: “East Park Water Play Area is awaiting the delivery of safety mats to ensure the facility is safe for users.

“Those are expected to arrive imminently and, following an updated risk assessment, will reopen for bookings.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

East Park’s water play area is now open for bookings which can be made on the Hull Culture and Leisure website here: https://www.hcandl.co.uk/sport-and-leisure-and-parks/your-local-park/east-park

The play area’s facilities have recently been refurbished with new seating and a toilet block.

The water play area itself features 43 water jets including rooster tails, geysers, ground gushers and spray cans.

It is open for general admission every day of the week but families should book in advance as there are a limited number of walk-in spaces available.

Elsewhere, the paddling pools at Ings Park, Oak Road and West Park are all currently open from 10am to 5pm daily.

But the paddling pool at Alderman Kneeshaw is currently closed due to vandalism.

Bude Park and Pickering Park’s paddling pools remain closed for refurbishments and their opening this summer is unlikely.

Bude Park, on Bransholme, is set for a new splash pad which is due to be in place by May next year.

Full details about the Pickering Park redesign have yet to emerge, but a council spokesperson said it was likely to be similar to the pool at Oak Road playing fields.
