The 146th Driffield show day 1 has been taking place today.

Around 30,000 people in total are expected to attend the event today and tomorrow.

There's plenty of livestock and agricultural displays and events aimed at families.

Darren Myers is the Secretary of the Yorkshire Sweetpea society:

"The society's been here for a number of years putting on a stand, and it's great to come and meet the people.

"To promote the society and promote the growing of sweetpeas.

" We've got a lovely display - the scent is terrific".

Stuntman 'Dangerous Steve' has been performing at the show today:

"It's a great show - it's great to be back. I was here last year for just one of the days. Luckily for me they've invited me both days this year - so I'm looking forward to doing both days.

"I've done my first performance and had an absolutely cracking audience, and there lots to see here.

"In my show there's some new dangerous tricks I'm going to be doing on bikes.

"I have an unusual machine called a mono wheel - so it's a giant wheel with an engine stuck inside it. I sit inside the wheel as well, I go around the arena, and then I roll it as well. So I end up upside down, and then rolling back hopefully the right way up again.

"This year has been absolutely cracking. I've been performing shows for 30 years but I've been working on this one for just over 10 years. I've been trying to make my show better every year and this year it seems to be going down an absolute storm".

Paul Wilson work at the activities arena:

"Covid is still about and we've got sanitiser points, and we take it very seriously. But I think people are glad to be out and about and doing what they would do - back so some normality.

"The people that come and give up their time and put on a fabulous show for us. We're blessed for their talented expertise".
