The number of women and children in Hull seeking help for domestic abuse has doubled.

The Preston Road Women's Centre say over the last five years, double the number of victims have been coming to them to access support.

The charity supported around 5400 women and children last year, compared to just over 2700 in 2010.

They're now looking to move into bigger premises in the city and have today launched a new fundraising drive - asking for the public's help.

The Big Purple Build campaign aims to raise ÂŁ150,000 towards building the new centre on Preston Road.
