Cow shot dead through eye near York

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Police are investigating after a cow was shot and killed near York.

The cow was in a field at Dunnington when it was shot through the eye at about 11pm on Saturday night (14 May 2016).

North Yorkshire Police say it was a "shocking act of cruelty" and are appealing for witnesses.

A police spokesperson said:

"I would like the public and members of the local farming community to come to me or the Rural Taskforce with any information they may have that could assist us with our enquiries."
