We're being warned to keep away from the cliff edge at Mappleton in East Yorkshire after a massive crack appeared on Wednesday.

It's near a local viewing point in the Cliff Lane area and residents are being told it could be dangerous to go near, especially after the rain.

It's been cordoned off by East Riding of Yorkshrie Council.

Mappleton is one of the places worst hit by sea erosion.

A council spokesperson told us:

"The council has been made aware that a section of cliff top near Mappleton has began to crack.

"Coastal engineers and foreshores officers have assessed the situation and the decision has been taken to cordon off the area on the cliff top on the grounds of health and safety and place appropriate signage at beach access points to alert people to the situation on the beach below.

"The council is advising residents and visitors to the area to avoid the section of cliff top and the beach below while investigations and safety works take place."
