City of Culture roadshows
They're for people interested in volunteering or applying for funding for 2017.
A series of roadshows for people interested in volunteering or applying for funding for next year's City of Culture celebrations in Hull start today.
People interested in developing their own event for 2017 can apply for a grant of between £300 and £10,000 from today.
For those interested - you can head to the first community roadshow which is taking place at Hull's Freedom Centre on Preston Road this afternoon.
It marks the start of a programme of community-based engagement that will span spring and summer of this year as the city gets ready for 2017.
The Freedom Centre roadshow in east Hull runs from 11am to 7pm on Monday, April 4, and Tuesday, April 5, 2016.
It is the first of 22 fun and informal community roadshow and drop-in events taking place in the east, north, west and centre of the city throughout April and May.
Martin Green, CEO and director of Hull 2017, said:
“The people and communities of Hull are at the heart of City of Culture. Everyone can play a part – no matter how big or small.
“The roadshow events are a perfect opportunity to find out how you can get involved in City of Culture, and for us to answer questions and hear people’s views as we move closer to 2017. Come along, say hello to the team and our wonderful pioneer volunteers, ask lots of questions, tell us your hopes for the city and find out how you can get involved.
“Our Creative Communities Programme opens for applications on Monday, April 4. So if you have an idea for an event that you’d like to stage in 2017, please talk to us – we can help with submissions and you may be able to apply for a grant of between £300 and £10,000.
“As 2017 gets closer, the excitement and anticipation is building. It really is now or never to unite our city behind this project and for the people of Hull to decide how they want to be part of 2017 … and to make it the best it can be. We don’t want anyone to look back on 2017 and feel they weren’t given the opportunity to be a part of it. We want everyone to be able to say ‘I was there’.”
