A care home has thanked people in Hull for helping bring some Christmas magic to residents who won't be able to see their families this year.

Saltshouse Haven Care Home has been sent more than 4,000 cards and presents this year, after putting out a plea to local schools and nurseries.

Staff say the residents have been "overwhelmed with joy" to know people are thinking of them ahead of the festive period.

Santa himself turned up to drop off the cards

Jordan is one of the staff who's helped to organise the collection.

She says "we never imagined that we'd get this many cards".

"There's been tears of happiness here, they were just so overwhelmed with the kindness of others."

The care home says there's still more presents and cards to open and has thanked everyone who's donated so far.
