Owners of a bookshop in Brigg have been left picking up the pieces of their business after it was targeted by vandals.

The Rabbit Hole welcomed customers back for the first time on Monday, but just after midnight a window was smashed by two thieves forcing it to close again.

Co-owner Nick Webb was left devastated.

"Grants had to stretch a long, long way.

"You go back to January and we were at the depths of despair wondering if we would actually get through.

"We were just so elated to have made it through and now we’ve lost 3 or 4 days."

But, Nick's remaining optimistic.

"In the long term we’ll bounce back, we’ll power through it, we do not give in that easily.

"We need to clear up the shop.

"It’s not the damage that’s been done, it’s the glass that’s shattered.

"We need to be really careful and clean carefully as we have a lot of kids in here."

"We’ll power through it, we do not give in that easily"

He feels sorry for his youngest customers.

"I feel for the kids that are coming for their books and World Book Day books and everything that they’ve not been able to do.

"Some of them are travelling quite a distance and to just turn up and to see the damage, they shouldn’t have to see it.

"It’s something they shouldn’t have to come across at their age."

A fundraising campaign's been set-up to help them get back on their feet.
