The death of the Queen has brought back many poignant memories for staff at Beverley Racecourse.

Her Majesty visited on July 12th 2002 during her Golden Jubilee.

She also attended a service at Beverley Minster.

We've spoken to the Chairman of the race course Charles Maxstead.

"It was exciting and people were obviously hugely excited to see the Royal couple."

"We did have a slight drama when police closed the road so we very nearly ended up with no horses here."

"She had quite a good sense of humour and we had quite an enjoyable chat."

"Then she went onto the balcony with the Duke, one or two people were rather surprised to suddenly find her standing next to them."

"Then she said I rather actually prefer to watch it on the television anyway."

"I remember lots of trade stands and people from charities etc".

"Then they had a lunch in the restaurant and they asked lots of local dignitaries and others to come."

"It was a special day".
