It's time for a 'bold move' say Associated British Ports - they want a second Humber Bridge built
It's as the environment agency are proposing a flood barrier to be built for the Humber

It's hoped a second Humber bridge could be built, to the east of the ports of Immingham and Hull.
The idea came about as part of the Transport for the North's consultation on the future of freight.
Dafydd Williams is Head of Policy, Communications and economic development for ABP in the Humber he says:
"we thought actually one of the biggest issues that we face as a port operator, but also affects businesses and individuals right across the Humber, is that on both banks of the Humber they're reliant on one road. Putting a second crossing in would put a huge amount of resilience for people on the southbank using the A180 or on the northbank using the A63"

Dafydd continues:
"what we are saying is if you're going to do that actually while you're working out those proposals let's add in the bridge as a possibility. The two bits of infrastructure would work well together. And then not only can we protect the Humber from flooding but we could grow our economy as part of what we're doing as well"
"we want to make the case to the Government in particular that this is the sort of thing that Government should be helping to fund alongside the private sector as well. This sort of investment would unlock the economic potential of the whole of the Humber area north and south bank"
The idea is the bridge would also reduce congestion in Hull and could grow jobs in the area as the infrastructure would be improved leading to more opportunities.
