Strictly Come Dancing's Kevin Clifton sparked rumours that he could be leaving the show a couple of weeks ago, after spin-off show Strictly: It Takes Two showed a special clip off all his best bits from the show. Fans became worried that it could signal the end for Kevin, who has been on Strictly Come Dancing since 2013.

The 36-year-old, who split from his wife and Strictly colleague Karen Clifton in March this year, did little to quash the rumours - and now a source close to the dancer has revealed that his time on the show really might be up.

According to Metro.co.uk, they said that Kevin has "absolutely loved his time on the show" and was thankful for the "opportunities that it’s given him", but added that he is getting "itchy feet and there’s still tension with Karen."

They added, "While things are slowly getting more civil between them, it’s not exactly fun spending time around your ex. Kevin had played a pivotal role in the curse of Strictly and it’s a real concern of bosses that they won’t be able to sign up big names for fear of their relationships breaking down."

However, Kevin has now taken to Twitter to pour cold water on the rumours, posting three separate tweets to refute the claims. He first tweeted, 'Wow, reports of me quitting @bbcstrictly today are the first I've heard of it', before responding to fan tweets begging him to stay.

One read, 'Absolutely no plans to leave @bbcstrictly . No idea what this is about', and the other read, 'Course it's not true. I'm not going anywhere as long as they still want me.' sic

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
