Thank You Superheroes
Viking FM’s Cash for Kids Superhero Day campaign came to an explosive end with the charity revealing that a whopping £20,182 had been raised during two weeks of superhero themed fundraising.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Friday 13th May saw Viking FM broadcast a day long auction featuring prizes from local hotel breaks, restaurant vouchers to money can’t buy experiences like tickets to the Masters and F1 experiences.
Thousands of people from schools and workplaces around East Yorkshire & Northern Lincolnshire got dressed up and fundraised to help the cause. The money raised will benefit sick and disadvantaged in the local region.
The campaign went down a storm on social media. #superheroday was trending on Twitter all day on Friday 13th May. England Cricket starlet Joe Root and recently reunited band Busted also showed their support.
Charlotte Pickering, Charity Manager for Cash for Kids, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to every single person that shared, bid, texted, fundraised and donated to help make Superhero Day become a huge success.
So many people went over and above however, a special thanks go out to our headlines sponsors William Jackson Food Group. The company’s brands including Aunt Bessie’s, Jackson’s Bakery and The Ferguson Fawsitt Arms all rallied behind the campaign holding pub quizzes to bake sales, we couldn’t have raised the funds without their support."
