Happy Street winner revealed!

This morning Viking FM’s breakfast show revealed the winner of ‘Happy Street’ 2016 as Old Row, Burton Upon Stather.

Happy Street is a brand new exciting competition with the lucky winner receiving a massive party on August 21st with Jackson’s Champion Bread! Viking FM will be broadcasting live from the street as well as bringing food, children’s entertainers, live music, face painting, bouncy castles, giant games and more!

Viking FM received hundreds of applications from streets across East Yorkshire & Northern Lincolnshire which were whittled down by a judging panel to 2 amazing finalists with Old Row, Burton Upon Stather taking the crown after raising an amazing £3,010.16 for local children.

Lauren & Daniel, the street’s lead fundraisers worked incredibly hard raising the funds from sitting in a bath of beans to sponsored silences to organising a huge family fun day for their community.

Cash for Kids charity manager, Charlotte Pickering says “we are incredibly proud of both Burton Upon Stather and runner up community Barton Upon Humber for their incredible efforts over the past 3 weeks. A total of £4,615.22 has been raised by these close knit communities and it’s wonderful to hear the fundraising has brought them even closer together.”

All the money raised will go to Viking FM’s very own children’s charity, Cash for Kids. Cash for Kids provides help to sick and underprivileged children within East Yorkshire & Northern Lincolnshire. By responding to the needs of children in our communities, we aspire to enable all children to live life to the full and achieve their individual potential.
