Dear Supporter, below you can read our most recent news !!

This September we have awarded £10,000 to 14 children from Hull, Scunthorpe, Goole and Bridlington. With the help of Viking Fm’s Cash for Kids, suffering children’s quality of life will improve, and this is how:

John is 10 years old and is autistic; he sits by himself and struggles to engage in many activities. He has a twin sister who enjoys biking. Due to his disability, John cannot use a regular bike. We will help him by buying him a disabled large tryke, for John to be able to go out biking with his family and his twin sister. When I rang his mother this morning to give her the good news, she started crying on the phone and was so overwhelmed, that she was unable to speak…

Tony is 3 years old, and he has Downs syndrome, low muscle tone and has had several bowel surgeries. He cannot crawl or walk and cannot sit up in a normal car seat. He needs a safe car seat, specially adapted, for traveling to the hospital and school. We are helping purchasing this seat for Tony, so he can travel safely in the car.

Danny is 7, and suffers from Cerebral Palsy affecting his legs; he had several complex spinal operations and needs to build up his physical strength by being active. Cash for kids will get Dave a much needed specialist trike, which will enable him to enjoy life and maintain an active life.

Tom is 9 years old and suffers from developmental delay, autism, and has a heart condition. Viking FM’s Cash for kids will help Tom’s family purchase a sensory equipment pack, which will create a safe area for him to play, develop his skills and speech, learn to interact and socialise.

Lee is 2 years old. He has severe quadruplic palsy and we are getting him an Explorer trike which will help him join in with his brother and sister and go outside more. It will allow him to spend time with his siblings and feel part of the family.

Andy is 4 years old and suffers from epilepsy. He is affected by seizures and memory loss. We are helping the family make his life better, by purchasing a padded play area, making it safe for Andy to play and not get injured.

Lily is a 2 years old girl, who suffers from brain atrophy, hearing loss, bone disorder and eye sight problems. She cannot use normal play equipment. Her mother asked us for a specialist swing, which will enable Lily to play outside in the garden and interact with her sister. We will get Lily the swing, so she can enjoy playing outside.

Chris is 3 years old and suffers from autism, and severe disabilities. He needs a safe exercise area and a special protective bed mattress. We agreed to help the family purchase these, in order to help Billy sleep better and exercise.

Hessle Road Network community group have asked us for play equipment which will benefit 500 children. We have agreed to fund this request and will purchase board games and tennis nets which will improve the children’s team work abilities, confidence and communication skills.

Katy is aged 8 and has profound multiple disabilities and cortical visual impairments, she has had numerous surgeries, including a dislocated hip. She is in a wheel chair full time. We are buying her specialist equipment which will help her have plenty of stimulus within the home to keep her engaged and offer her a little joy in her limited life.

Leigh is 3 years old. He has a malformed food pipe and needs access to a therapy session which is only available in Leeds. We are paying for 40 days of therapy for Leigh’s treatment. The therapy will improve his speech and social communication skills and could have a drastic improvement effect on his condition.
