A woman has hit back at critics who branded her a ‘fraud’ after she won a cruise on Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.

Andrea Murdoch appeared on a feature on the show called ‘Coronation Deceit’ and admitted to faking an injury so she could take three months off work to go on holiday to Italy.

The hotel owner was seen laughing on the show as Ant told the audience she wore a sling for six months when she returned to work to make it look like she’d injured her shoulder.

Her former boss was on the show too and laughed when Andrea admitted the stunt.

But after a backlash on Twitter, having been branded a 'fraud' by some, Andrea defended her actions and told the Daily Mirror:

"This was over 20 years ago and did not get paid, I did lie about my operation but only to keep my job when I got back over 20 years ago.

"I now own my own business and work for myself. So all you haters get your facts right before you comment!"

A friend also reportedly stepped in and said "It was donkey's years ago that it happened. People need to get a grip and let her enjoy it."

Viewers had taken to Twitter to share their anger.

The show is yet to comment on it.
