This Morning's Denise Robertson dies after short battle with cancer
Tributes are being paid to the 83-year-old.
Denise Robertson, best known for being an agony aunt on ITV's This Morning, has died after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
The sad news was announced on the programme's Twitter page.
In February she revealed she had pancreatic cancer and released a statement through the show.
It said:
"I'm sorry I've not been around for a couple of weeks but a persistent health issue has turned into something quite a lot bigger.
"I've been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It has come as a surprise to me and my family but we know many others have suffered and dealth with this condition and I don’t plan to give up without a fight.
"My doctor is referring me for chemotherapy and hopefully that will start soon. I'd like to thank all the lovely viewers of This Morning who have been concerned about my health recently and I hope I'll be back on the sofa soon."
Denise made her television debut as the presenter of the Junior Advice Line segment of the BBC's Breakfast Time programme in 1985 and briefly hosted her own television series Dear Denise in 2000. The writer and television broadcaster received an MBE in 2013.
Tributes are being paid on Twitter.
The writer and broadcaster had been with the morning show since its first broadcast in 1988.
Denise, who was born in Sunderland, leaves behind husband Bryan and son Mark.
