Coronation Street viewers were left laughing at their TV screens last night (Monday 26th September), when one popular character made an innuendo during the episode.

Character Mary Taylor, who is played by actress Patti Clare, made the admission during a scene with Tracey Barlow. As Mary was filmed belting out a song as she sorted out birthday cards in the shop, Tracey flipped and told Mary to stop singing.

Assuming that Tracey meant the card sorting, Mary responded saying “Well it’s important to have a tidy rack” which left viewers in stitches at the apparent innuendo.

Viewers of the soap were quick to take to social media to express their humour at the line. One claimed the soap has the ‘best writers ever’ with another praising the actress for her role.

It turned out to be a dramatic episode for Mary. Earlier in the show Dev Alahan’s children tried their best to get her sacked from the florist so she could return to look after them.

Since Dev started dating Erica, Mary hasn’t been looking after the twins as much, leading Aadi and Asha to plot to win her back.

The storyline is set to unfold in the coming weeks.
