Corrie actress Alison King reveals why she’s leaving as she films last scenes
So what's in store for her character, Carla?
Alison King has opened up about why she’s leaving the cobbles after ten years.
The Coronation Street actress told the Daily Mirror: 'After 10 years you find yourself going round in circles, both me and the character are exhausted.'
But the star, who plays Carla Connor in the soap, is also looking forward to spending more time with her daughter Daisy, saying that as a single mum her seven-year-old should come first.
She added: 'I need to see her grow up more than I have done’.
The 43-year-old has one child who she shares with Adam Huckett, a Coronation Street technician. The two started dating in 2007, got engaged in 2011 but a year later it was reported they had sadly split up.
She had already announced she would be leaving the show, saying earlier this year that despite rumours she was taking a sabbatical, she planned to leave and pursue new projects.
So what’s in store for Carla?
She’s set to marry Nick Tilsley, played by Ben Price, but in true soap fashion it’s probably not going to go to plan. Plus, could Nick find out about her fling with Robert?
Alison’s final scenes will be aired next week.
