Two teenagers have been arrested after a 15-year-old boy was left with serious injuries when a car collided with a tree in Leicestershire.

Police say a blue Ford Fiesta which was carrying three people left Tamworth Road, Appleby Magna, at around 1.56pm on Saturday 24 May.

The boy is in hospital for treatment.

A 16-year-old youth was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, whilst a 15 year old girl's being questioned on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Both have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Officers are keen to speak to the driver of a vehicle which was overtaken by the Fiesta shortly before the collision.

Detective Constable Adam Bancroft, who is the investigating officer, said: “We know that the Fiesta was travelling towards Measham and shortly before the collision, overtook another vehicle.

“We would like to speak to this driver in particular or anyone else who may have seen the Fiesta prior to the collision.

“Alternatively, if you have any dash cam footage which may have captured something related to this incident, then please also get in touch.”
