Two in serious condition after becoming trapped in Selston house fire

Three others escaped from the home in the early hours of this morning (Sunday 14th January).

Two people remain in a serious condition in hospital after becoming trapped in a house fire in Nottinghamshire this morning (Sunday 14th January).

Multiple fire appliances went to Rawson Street in Selston early this morning after being called at around 1am.

Fire officials confirmed earlier that three people managed to escape from the building, but the two casualties required rescuing by firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus.

It's also been reported that both casualties required resuscitation efforts at the scene.

Crews were called in from Alfreton, Eastwood and Ashfield. Paramedics and police also attended along with the Air Ambulance.

Fire engines from Ashfield, Alfreton and Eastwood attended, as well as police, the ambulance service and air ambulance.

An investigation is now underway into the cause of the fire with a cordon in place surrounding the scene.
