Three people have been charged following a police investigation into illegal drugs.

Knife crime officers were patrolling the Radford area when they spotted a vehicle that had allegedly been involved in drug dealing at approximately 1.45pm on Sunday (29 September).

Nottinghamshire police say they stopped a car in Chadwick Road, Bobbers Mill, on Sunday, and arrested the two people inside after suspected Class A drugs, cash and mobile phones were found.

Darmjit Johal, 62, Karanveer Johal, 28, and Sukhjinder Johal, 59, were charged with possession with intent to supply Class A (cocaine and MDMA) and Class B drugs (cannabis) and using criminal property.

Two houses linked to the suspects were also searched. They included a house in Perry Road, Sherwood, where three further people were detained on suspicion of drug offences.

Karanveer Johal was further charged with driving without a licence and driving without insurance.

He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody.

Darmjit Johal and Sukhjinder Johal were both bailed.

All three will appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 29 October.

The two remaining suspects – a 30-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman – have been bailed with conditions whilst the investigation continues.

Sergeant Matthew Daley, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Drugs have a detrimental impact on lives and communities and can often be linked to, or result in, wider criminal activity.

“For this reason we continue to work diligently to disrupt those involved in this sort of criminality, to prevent the harm caused by the supply of illegal substances into our community.”
