Detectives investigating a fatal stabbing in Nottingham have made a third arrest.

A 26-year-old man died after he was attacked at Texaco garage in Meadow Lane at around 6.25pm on Wednesday (31 January).

He was given emergency care at the scene but died a short time later.

His family are being supported by specially trained officers.

Two men, aged 22 and 46, were arrested on suspicion of murder within hours of the attack.

Both remain in custody and detectives have been given more time to question them.

A third suspect was arrested last night (1 February) on suspicion of murder.

The 23-year-old man also remains in custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Kaz Smithson is leading the investigation. She said:

“The investigation is progressing at a fast pace and we are making good progress.

“We have made a further arrest, bringing the number of people we have in custody to three.

“Our inquiries are continuing and we remain determined to bring to justice anyone involved in the attack, which is why we will continue to invest a large number of detectives and uniformed officers into the investigation.

“In the meantime, specially trained officers are continuing to work with the victim’s family at this extremely difficult time.”

Inspector Stephen Dalby, of the City South neighbourhood policing team, added:

“This is a tragic incident and our thoughts remain with the victim’s family following this very sad loss.

“Clearly this will have caused concern in the community, so we have increased patrols in the area which I hope has provided some reassurance.

“If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak to any of our officers.

“Incidents of this type are concerning and highlight why we continue to work hard, with the support of partner agencies and, importantly, the community to tackle and prevent knife crime from happening on our streets.”
