Stumbling man arrested for carrying knife and drugs in Nottingham
Police spotted the 22-year-old stumbling into the road in the city earlier this week
A man has been arrested after stumbling into the road whilst carrying a knife and drugs in Nottingham.
Police spotted the 22-year-old on Bells Lane at about 5am on Tuesday (January 16) when they conducted a stop and search on him.
After a brief search he was found to be in possession of a locking style knife, as a well as a small amount of what is believed to be cannabis and cocaine.
The 22-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A and B drugs, and possessing a bladed article in a public place.
The drugs and the weapon were seized.
Officers say cases like this are ‘never acceptable’ - with the consequences of carrying knives ‘devastating’ for both victims and the offenders.
Inspector Sharon Powar, of Nottinghamshire Police, added: “The consequences of carrying knives can be devastating.
"That’s why we work so hard to remove them from the streets and hold the people who carry them to account.
“It is never acceptable to walk the streets armed with a weapon like this and people who do can expect serious consequences when we catch them.”
