Small businesses across Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire need your support this festive season.

Today is Small Business Saturday UK. The grassroots, non-commercial campaign highlights small business success and encourages consumers to 'shop local' and support small businesses in their communities.

Now in it's 12th Year the aim day started by American Express is designed to promote small businesses at the heart of the holiday season and to help the sector grow and thrive.

Susanna owns Little Bow in Matlock, Derbyshire:

"Everything I do, I pour my heart and sole into it as do a lot of small business owners and every sale counts."

"I really do have a working friendship with the customers that return to me and I think that personal service is something that they really do appreciate and it sets us aside from the high street."

Running a small business can be a challenging environment, but with people's love for their communities' enterprises your support can make the world of difference.

Susanna added:

"We all do try to venture further afield with the likes of online selling but the reality is the competition online is so hard we can't rely on that as a solely as an income so as a small independent business the local trade absolutely is what keeps us going. "
