Six arrests have been made following Coventry City's game against Leicester City at the CBS Arena.

Officers say there was sporadic disorder outside the ground both before and after the game - three men, aged 27, 35 and 37, were arrested on suspicion of affray.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of throwing a missile.

A 34 year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of a homophobic public order offence and we are also investigating a separate incident of criminal damage.

West Midlands Police say offensive banners that were put up before the game were removed and are now being investigated.

They referenced the death of Leicester City's chairman, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, in 2018.

Football Unit Inspector Richard Cox said: "Using a football match as an excuse for disorder is totally unacceptable and we will continue to take action to arrest those who come here looking to cause trouble.

"We are continuing to work with our partners from the football club and British Transport Police to review CCTV and investigate incidents inside and outside the ground.

"Offensive banners were put up ahead the Coventry vs Leicester match but were removed.

"Officers from our specialist football unit are working with Coventry City Football Club and our police colleagues in Warwickshire, where the banners were placed, to investigate the matter."
