Some residents of a Derby street are being allowed to return to their homes following an explosion there on Tuesday night.
One man remains in a critical condition - and a dog is being treated at the vets - after being rescued from the wreckage on Eden Street.
One neighbour told us it sounded like a plane coming down. Another likened it to a bomb going off.
Investigations into the cause of the explosion are being carried out.
David Diggins from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We will be maintaining a presence on scene for quite a long time, as I'm sure, pictures have shown online, this has been a serious explosion.
"There'll be work to, firstly, make the building safe, through demolition. And secondly, investigating and understanding what went wrong.
"It's far too early to begin to speculate and our investigation teams, along with the police, are at the very early stages of understanding how this happened."
One terraced house was significantly damaged, with neighbouring properties also being impacted.
A fence has been set up around those properties and arrangements are being made to allow those who live beyond the fence to go back home. There are warnings they may experience some power supply disruptions.
