Police name Leicester murder victim as 76-year-old as investigations continue

Police in Leicester have identified the victim in an ongoing murder investigation as Bhajan Kaur.

It's after the 76-year-old's body was found in a house on Bolsover Street in Leicester on Monday (1 3th May).

A post-mortem exam's been completed and further tests are set to be carried out.

Detectives arrested a 47-year-old man on suspicion of her murder, he remains in custody for questioning.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Sinski from East Midlands Special Operations Unit Murder Investigation Team is leading the investigation. He said: “A team of detectives are continuing to work to understand what has occurred and a cordon will remain in place while we thoroughly examine the scene.

"This is an extremely difficult time for Mrs Kaur’s family and specialist officers continue to support them."

Due to previous police contact, and in line with procedure, a mandatory referral has been made by Leicestershire Police to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
