A suspect has been arrested after a pickpocket was caught by a CCTV camera using a bizarre dance to distract a victim and steal a mobile phone.

Nottinghamshire Police issued footage of the offence earlier this week, showing the man approaching and dancing with a victim in Clumber Street, Nottingham, on the morning of Sunday November 16.

A police statement released on Friday said: "A suspect was arrested earlier this week by officers attending an unrelated burglary in Gregory Boulevard (Nottingham) on Sunday."

A 33-year-old has since been charged with two counts of burglary.

The police statement added: "He was further arrested on suspicion of robbery in connection with the Clumber Street incident. Inquiries into that matter remain ongoing.

"The suspect appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court in relation to the two burglaries on Tuesday and was remanded into custody.

"He will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on December 16."
