A pedestrian has died following a collision involving a car on the A1 near Newark

A man in his eighties has died following a collision involving a car near to Newark.

Emergency services were called around 7.14 this morning - but the 84-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene

Police say the man's family have been informed.

Investigation work is being carried out between North Muskham and Carlton on Trent.

The road was closed on both sides of the carriageway this morning - but has since reopened.

Sergeant Mark Baker, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“This was an upsetting incident for everyone involved and we are currently working to understand what happened. The man’s family has now been informed and our thoughts are with them at what we know will be a very difficult time.”

Nottinghamshire Police have said:

"Any additional witnesses to this incident are asked to call 101 quoting incident 82 of 18 December 2024."
