Police in Nottinghamshire have said they were called to a peculiar report after a snake was found in a country park.

Officers were first alerted to the snake at 4pm on Thursday (July 18th), after passers by saw the reptile making its way across Colwick County Park.

When responders arrived at the park, they found a six-foot long Boa Imperator moving along a rocky footpath in the area.

Experts from a local reptile centre were called to the park to help catch the animal, which was deemed to be a non venomous snake.

The snake was eventually apprehended by officials from the reptile centre, where it currently remains.

Staff from the reptile centre confirmed that the snake was in good health and is now "enjoying the life of snake-tury".

Nottinghamshire Police added: "Our officers are used to dealing with the odd slippery customer with no leg to stand on, but they received a rather unusual call.

"Fear not, a local reptile centre, which was alerted to the surprise discovery, attended and helped us arresssssst the snake," followed by a snake emoji.
