Nottingham hosts major study into outdoor swimming
Sessions are being held in the city
The impact of outdoor swimming on tackling depression is being examined in Nottingham as part of a major new study.
Special sessions are being held in the city.
Researchers at the University of Portsmouth will see if it improves mindfulness and is a cost-effective treatment.
They're looking for hundreds of people to take part in swimming sessions in various parts of the country including here in the East Midlands.
Sarah Johnson is a local cold water swimmer.
She told us: "My husband died 5 years ago - after that there was obviously grief - I had a young daughter."
"Cold water swimming has just changed my life - you feel alive - it's a reset."
"I go into the water and everything's reset."
"You come out and you feel alive - your mind feels refreshed."
"I can go there and be having a really down day but as soon as I hit that water - it's cleansing."
