Prices at all city council car parks in Nottingham set to rise
It's to help plug a multi million pound gap in the council's budget for this year.
Charges at all six major Nottingham car parks run by the city council will go up from May 2.
As part of recently approved budget proposals to fill a £32.2m black hole in 2023/24, the authority said it would be reviewing tariffs across its car parking facilities.
The review came alongside other changes, including the axing of 110 full-time equivalent job posts and a five per cent council tax rise.
The new car parking tariffs have now been announced, showing increases at all six sites across a range of times.
The increases range from as little as 20p up to as much as £2, depending on the duration.
New charges will be introduced across the council’s multi-storey facilities including Trinity Square Car Park, the Lace Market Car Park and Broad Marsh Car Park, as well as street-level car parks including Curzon Street Car Park, Nottingham Castle Car Park and Sneinton Car Park.
The new tariffs will come in from May 2.
A city council spokesperson said: “Along with all car park operators, we constantly review our prices and have endeavoured to keep increases low despite the rising cost of inflation.
“We remain below our competitors for many tariffs and continue to provide offers such as the early bird discount at Broad Marsh Car Park.
“Our car parks continue to be a popular option for people visiting the city centre for shopping, leisure and business.
“People also have excellent Park and Ride and other public transport options when visiting Nottingham.”
By comparison, NCP’s multi-storey car parks in the city centre cost between £11.85 and £17.85 for two hours and between £17.95 and £21.95 for four hours.
