Nine men have been arrested and multiple vehicles recovered after police tracked a suspected stolen car to an industrial unit in Nottingham.

Officers were alerted to the vehicle’s presence in the Basford area at about 9.15pm yesterday and began a more detailed search of surrounding streets.

The car was found a short time later in an industrial unit in Bar Lane, along with multiple other vehicles in various states of assembly.

Searches of surrounding buildings also uncovered additional vehicles and parts.

Nine men, aged 54, 42, 38, 28, 37, 36, 36, 29 and 25 have been arrested on suspicion of theft and remain in police custody.

A dog, believed to be an XL Bully, was also seized from one of the units.

Investigations at the scene are ongoing.

Detective Chief Inspector Claire Gould, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Thanks to some excellent police work we have been able to recover multiple stolen vehicles and disrupt what appears to be a very significant criminal operation.

“We work closely with other forces across the country to trace stolen vehicles, and this work certainly paid off last night.

“I’m pleased we were able to recover these vehicles and arrest multiple suspects but our investigation into this incident remains ongoing. I therefore urge anyone else with relevant knowledge or information to contact us.”
