Leicester Man jailed for eight years for sexual abuse of a child

Nicholas McLeavey, 51, of Leicester was convicted of three counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity following a trial at Leicester Crown Court and been sentenced to eight years imprisonment.

Nicholas McLeavey, who is also known as Leon, he also been order to be placed on the sex offenders register for life and was made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years.

He was also issued with an order for 10 years which prohibits him from making contact with any prosecution witnesses.

The offences came to light when the girl had a conversation with her mum who then reported it to police.

Detective Sergeant Lisa Wood said: “McLeavey thought he could get away with this horrendous offending on a vulnerable young girl. But thanks to the bravery of the victim and the report being made to police, we were able to carry out a full investigation leading to McLeavey being brought to court, convicted and receiving a significant sentence.

“For the victim and her family this will never go away but I hope that this conviction does help in some small way as they continue to move forward in their lives.

“We urge any victim of a sexual offence to speak with someone close to them and to report the matter to police. All sexual offences reported will be fully investigated and full support will be provided.”
