Murder investigation launched after stabbing in Leicester

An 18-year-old died at the scene in the New Parks area

A murder investigation's been launched in Leicester after an 18-year-old was stabbed in the New Park's area of Leicester.

Police were called to Glazebrook Road around 1.15 pm on Wednesday (22nd May) to reports a man had been stabbed.

Emergency services treated his injuries, but the 18-year-old died a short while later on the scene.

Two males aged 17 have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A 52-year-old male has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Two other males, aged 36 and 17 and a 38-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

All remain in custody.

Leicestershire Police say there is a scene guard in place on Glazebrook Road and Gilman Road.

Detective Inspector David Greenhalgh, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) major crime team, said: “While our investigation is in its early stages and several people have been arrested, I’m appealing for anyone with information to come forward as a matter of urgency.

"This incident happened in broad daylight in a residential area, so I firmly believe there are people who can help. I’d ask anyone with doorbell, CCTV or dashcam footage to contact police"
