A man's been arrested in connection with an incident in St Ann's in Nottingham last night (17.06).

Emergency services were called to Alfred Street North just before 9 pm on Monday evening to reports of an assault.

A man was found with serious injuries, and after being treated at the scene by paramedics was taken to hospital.

Police say they believe it's an isolated incident, and they are questioning a man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He remains in police custody.

Chief Inspector David Mather, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Our investigation is at an early stage but we do believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider risk posed to the public.

“We understand an incident like this can cause concern to the community, but I want to personally reassure the public that we do have a suspect in custody and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.”

Anyone with information is being encouraged to contact police on 101.
