Man jailed for leaking explicit images without consent

A man has been jailed for three years after he shared explicit sexual images of a woman across various internet sites.

57 year old Gary Ellis, of Ashworth Drive, Mansfield Woodhouse, posted the images under assumed names.was already the subject of a restraining order when he committed the offences in October and December last year.

Ellis posted the images under assumed names on pornographic websites and a social media platform.

Included with the images – which could only have been taken by Ellis – were highly personal messages detailing private information about his victim such as her place of work.

Ellis pleaded guilty to two counts of disclosing private sexual photographs and films without consent and two counts of breaching a restraining order.

PC Abigail Dorricott, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“People who commit these offences may think they can hide behind on-line pseudonyms, but, as Ellis has just found out to his cost, we will track them down and we will hold them to account.

“This kind of offending is deliberately designed to shame and humiliate victims, but the only shame here lies with Ellis.

“His actions were a shameful violation of his victim’s privacy and have quite rightly resulted in a significant custodial sentence.

“His victim, meanwhile, has shown admirable bravery and determination in coming forward, telling us about what was happening and giving compelling evidence against him.

“I hope this sentence provides her with some comfort, and also serves as a warning to others about the potential consequences of posting such private images public spaces.

“Similarly, I hope that any other victims reading this are encouraged to come forward and tell us about their experiences so we can help them in a similar way.”
