Man charged with attempted murder over Radford flat fire
A woman was rescued from the property by firefighters and taken to hospital with smoke inhalation.
Detectives investigating a flat fire in Nottingham have charged a man with attempted murder.
Emergency services were called to the property on Holden Street in Radford just before 9.30am on Tuesday (30 January).
A woman was rescued from the property by firefighters and taken to hospital with smoke inhalation.
She is expected to make a full recovery.
Monu Miah, of Holden Street, Radford, has been charged with attempted murder.
The 69-year-old appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (1 February) and was remanded into custody.
He is next due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 29 February.
Detective Inspector Jamie Moore said:
“This was a very serious incident and I am pleased we have now been able to charge a suspect in this case.
“We are satisfied this was an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public.
“Our investigation will now continue.”
