Man's body recovered from the River Trent

Sightings had prompted the closure of a bridge in Nottingham

Police have recovered a man's body from the River Trent in Nottingham.

Lady Bay Bridge was closed after calls to the emergency services were received yesterday lunchtime.

The death isn't being treated as suspicious.

In a statement, Nottinghamshire Police said: " We can confirm that a body has been recovered from the River Trent in Nottingham.

"Officers were called to Lady Bay Bridge at around 12.30pm on Thursday (8 August) following reports that a body was seen in the River Trent.

"This led to the closure of Lady Bay Bridge whilst officers searched the area.

"Unfortunately, the body of a deceased man was recovered. The death is not being treated as suspicious."
