Man appears in court over death of a cyclist in Nottinghamshire

A man has appeared in court after a cyclist died in a road traffic collision in Treswell.

Emergency services were called to the Cottam Road junction with Rampton Road at 9.20am on Sunday 28th January 2024.

57 year old Robert Noble, from Gainsborough, sustained a serious injury and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family are now being supported by specially trained officers.

Jack Bingley, aged 25, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road traffic collision, and driving whilst under the influence of alcohol.

Bingley, of Devonshire Road, Retford, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today and was released on bail with conditions.

He is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 27th February 2024.

Sergeant Craig Luckett, of Nottinghamshire Police’s serious collision investigation unit, said: “This was a tragic incident that resulted in a man’s death.

“We have been working hard to understand what happened on Sunday morning and I am pleased we have now been able to charge a suspect.

“Our investigation will now carry on as we continue to support the victim’s family at this very difficult time.”
