Leicester man charged with attempted murder after 6 emergency service workers set on fire

A man has been charged with six counts of attempted murder after five police officers and a firefighter were set on fire in Leicester.

It happened at an address in Oxford Street during the early hours of Sunday (4th February).

27-year-old Ako Faraji, of Oxford Street, Leicester, allegedly threw a liquid, believed to be petrol, on the emergency service workers before setting them alight.

The flames were quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported.

Faraji is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court today (5th February).
