Junior doctors across East Midlands join national strike
It's the 11th time they've taken action in the dispute over pay
Junior doctors across the East Midlands are joining others around the country in striking for an 11th time today.
Health bosses say, the warm weather's already putting some parts of the NHS under additional strain and the action adds to the pressure.
Emergency care will be prioritised between now and Tuesday.
We've been hearing from Dr Tal Ellenbogan from the Junior Doctors committee covering the East Midlands
He told us: "They're demoralised and they're leaving."
Patient safety is a concern everyday of the year - not just heatwaves and strikes
"Last year we had 9000 doctors applying for a certificate to let them practise abroad."
"That's more than the number we had graduating every year."
"So we're pouring money into a leaky bucket wasting taxpayer's money".
He also addressed concerns about the imapct.
"We meet with NHS England four times a day during strikes to assess any concerns."
"Guys, St Thomas and Kings hospitals in London who've faced cyber attacks impacting cancer services - we have given them several surgeons who will cross the picket lines."
"Patient safety is a concern everyday of the year - not just heatwaves and strikes as we've seen with waiting lists going up three times since our pay's been cut in 2008."
"Waiting times in emergency departments led to 500 deaths a week during last winter."
