Investigations continue into double shooting in Leicester

A week on from a report of a shooting in Evington Road, police officers have been handing out appeal leaflets in the area.

The leaflets ask a number of questions and appeal to people with any information about the incident, who has not yet spoken to police, to make contact.

Officers will also be available in the area to speak direct to anyone with any information or concerns and to offer reassurance.

Police were called to the area at 11.20pm last Wednesday (22nd November 2023) following a report that two men had been shot as they walked along Evington Road close to the junction with Chepstow Road, Leicester.

The two men, both in a stable condition, remain in hospital receiving ongoing treatment.

Extensive enquiries have since been ongoing into the report including analysing CCTV, forensics work, house-to-house and making a number of public appeals.

Two men, aged 24 and 29, both of Leicester, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident. Both have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Hazel Sandall, from the force’s Complex Investigation Unit, said: “Across the past week, a dedicated team have been carrying out significant enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident.

“Today, a week on from the incident, we are continuing to appeal to you, the public, to help us and to speak with us. Our officers will be in the area today, speaking to people, handing out these appeal leaflets and offering reassurance. Please continue to talk to us. If you have any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please tell us. If you have heard anything since which could assist our enquiries then please let us know. We need you to help us.
