A woman has died, following a house fire in Nottinghamshire on Saturday afternoon (6th July).

Emergency crews were sent to Burton Joyce soon after 3.30pm, following a call from a neighbour on Bridle Road.

A second casualty was also taken to hospital by air ambulance, where he remains in a critical condition.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service says firefighters from Stockhill, Carlton and Arnold attended the call.

A joint investigation with police has found the cause of the fire to be accidental.

Notts Fire group manager, Tom Archer, said: "On behalf of Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, I would like to send my sincere condolences to the friends and family of the individuals involved in this incident.

"We will be in the area in the coming week to offer support to local residents, however in the meantime we want to remind everyone that there is fire safety information available on our website.

"Thank you to those across all the responding blue light services who dealt with this terrible and unfortunate incident with us at the scene."
